Rules of the Road
Day. 6.25.11
If you can't drive, stay off the road.
Now I thought that was common sense, but apparently some people haven't heeded this advice. I apologize for this rant but it needs to be said. Also there are awful drivers in every state (ehem Massachusetts & New York lol) so I am not picking on any state in particular.
RULE #1- If the speed limit is posted at 70 MPH then you should not be going 60....in the left lane.
RULE #2- Trucks should not even TRY to pass another semi when going the exact same speed limit
RULE #3- If someone is going slow in front of a car, don't tailgate the poor guy stuck behind the slowpoke. Trust me we can't drive through them...we tried.
RULE #4-If you see a cop, slamming on the breaks after you've passed 'em WILL NOT HELP YOU. Sorry to disappoint.
RULE #5-It is probably not a good idea to multi-task while driving. Especially doing makeup (MASCARA!?!?!), reading the newspaper, and most importantly not while drawing. Picasso did not make his paintings while driving 70 mph. Just sayin :)
SO please for the love of god, follow at least MY rules!?!?! Thanks, pictures to follow =)
Wake boarding and Emergency Room...FML?
Day1562357823761 ...Gosh if I know! 6.24.11
Wake boarding!!!!!!
Well my life is exciting. First, this weekend I had an awesome opportunity to go to a Pro-wakeboarding event sponsored by Red Bull, Elmer's, XE, Sharpie and many more (http://www.facebook.com/hypertouratprairiecreek).
These four guys were the top four winners of various prizes. Also at the event we had 1,000 flip-flops that were FREE to decorate WOOOOOO!!! Just an FYI, I am not coordinated at all. So wakeboarding is definitely not something I would try (I'll stick to land sports), but I completely respect the Pros that do. All of these people were super nice and chill...with WICKED moves. If you want to follow a really cool Wakeboarder who helped us all weekend: @billygwakeryder has been around for awhile.

Emergency Room!!! Yikes!
Ok so how many people just scrolled to just this part. Honest? Well the gist of this is I woke up to massive pain (Disclaimer: Ive been in the ER for stupid things I've done every 2 years since 2nd grade...soo i've broken bones, sprained, dislocated and even broken my nose & had surgery) AND THIS WAS THE WORST PAIN EVER.
From 1am-4am I attempted to take ibrufen and sleep it off. But that wasn't happening. I called my parents in between passing out and almost vomiting and they told me I needed to go to the hospital right away.
I called Bailey (the other wonderful intern) who lived nearby and at 4:30am Monday morning, she drove me to the ER. Just a forewarning there was a picture of me in the hospital bed that may surface, and i'm looking quite unfortunate! Hahaha.
Funny moments include:
-
-
- I asked the nurse who was wheeling me in my medical bed-thing down to a different room if she ever raced the beds. Apparently she has not. (But she's definitely considered it).
- I apparently was the Cheeriest ER patient of the morning. I'm not sure if I should be proud, but let's be real I didn't have much competition!
- My drug induced loopyness (summarized):
Me-"hey Bailey I wish there was a famous person at this hospital because i could totally go and find them and get their autograph. ...Actually I'm glad there isn't because otherwise service would be totally slow, and no one would care about me!"
Bailey-"Um Annette what are you talking about, and where did this come from!?"
Me- "Oh people were walking by!" - The cute man nurse had to stand outside the bathroom door while I had to pee in a cup. (The door didnt lock so he was guarding it :) Really. McDreamy WOULD have to be THE nurse to have to be outside listening. Great.
- Apparently I'm in descent shape. Or dying. Because the blood pressure thing kept beeping until she decided to lower the perameters for setting off the alarms bc my heart was in good shape. Stinks to be thenext guy!
- Speaking about Blood pressure monitors....once we were done with it, I was able to take it off. But guess what it beeps. Beeeeep. Beeeeep. Beeeep. (So freaking annoying, lol we almost broke that machine...or printed out all the previously saved results)
-
Basically my diagnosis is I had a cyst burst in my abdomenal region (lol more details and it wouldn't really be appropriate) and I needed some heavy pain pills and bed rest for 2 days. That was pretty boring, but I actually slept a whole bunch and barely noticed the time flying.
I am so lucky I am interning for such a tight company who actually cares about its employees. Collective Bias (the company in Bentonville I'm interning for) was great, co-workers visited me, brought me flowers and chocolates and Bailey even made me dinner. (Yum!!!) Everyone was so nice about it and genuinely concerned about me. Thanks guys!!!
My firsts from today ER in Arkansas: Let me tell you it was such quick service and my doctor was so nice!!! It was great, thanks Washington Medical Emergency Hospital in Arkansas =)
Crack Kills
Day 13.
I just don't get it. Half the cars here in Arkansas have cracked windshields! I started noticing this on my run. I passed a pickup truck AND a 2 door sedan with a windshield like this: (I couldnt take a picture in the middle of my run, but I'm considering it next time. Then, today I was driving into work and at least 5 cars on the road had cracked windshields. Here is a small crack in the windshield at the car next to me in the parking lot.
Don't people know that it is more expensive to replace a full windshield than a crack!? And a cracked windshield is dangerous because when the temperature changes it can shatter. (My dad taught me well, props to him...and Happy early Father's Day!!) http://www.easttexasautoglass.com/6/why-is-a-cracked-windshield-bad/ My firsts from today: More cracked windshields than in any state i've been in yet! =)
I don't own this picture: Superstock.com does!)
The other 'Tern ...Sounds like Fern, but not
Day 13 .
Ok let me just say that Bailey, the other intern is the coolest girl ever. We have been called the 'Terns so now thats what we will forever be called I'm guessing. Her blog is here :http://livingthecollegelife.blogspot.com/ Its really good and shes just starting out blogging just like me!
Dear Blog,
Anyway I have been a really bad blogger the past couple days, so I apologize BLOG. I wonder if my blog is a boy or a girl? (Did y'all name our cars in high school or was that only my school that worried about that?) I'm guessing its probably a girl, but I'll keep you updated.
Yesterday I had the worst day at work ever....JUST KIDDING! We went to a baseball game for The Naturals, which is Arkansas('s?) minor league baseball team. Amy organzied this fun day of worker bonding, and we had a great view of the game...with catered food. Tough life. I know. So now all of you who doubted the coolness of my internship in Arkansas, I'm saying suck it! Mine is so cool!
Random Tangent: I'm attempting to learn the rap part by Busta Rhymes in this music video "Look at Me Now" : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_p9I5ipJFs0 (warning not appropriate lol)....Sorry I just thought of this because it came on my playlist!
Speaking of how cool my internship is, I was just given an assignment that is basically letting me do a pitch & run through campaign with a real client (with people checking it of course). I'm super excited about this oppertunity, and no I can not say who it is DUH!
Todays weather was miserable and stormy. First bad weather day since I've been here. Quite the record in my book!
We ate a quick lunch from Chic-fil-et (Only my 5th time ever eating there, Whoopsies if I did not correctly spell it) while at an internal meeting. I can not get over how cute these Heinz ketchup packet/container things are! Whoever came up with this is brillant. More ketchup than just one packet and by ripping off the top ketchup "cap" section, then it still squirts. Genuis.
Bailey and I (we are sitting opposite) went shopping at the Pinnacle Mall. Who doesn't like walking around in 4 inch heels? It was seriously a lot of fun. We went into a lot of stores and wound up at Mimis for dinner. Apparently its like a Lousiana meets France food establishment. I had Ben our waiter take the picture of us :)
We were difficult but eventually decided on what to order...after the banana-carrott-walnut bread was served. It was so rich and flavorful, I need that recipe! And as you can see in the next picture I ordered their special 5 cheese grilled cheese and Bailey ordered a turkey club sandwhich. We were a little difficult ordering but Ben was nice and then on my reciept it said I could win 2 free muffins if I filled out tehihr satisfaction survey. So what does miss frugalista do? I whip out my Droid and do it right then and we get the 2 free muffins. Mine was blueberry and Bailey's was Lemon Poppyseed I believe. So yummy!
That's all for todays adverntures. Please forgive me BLOG!

Today's First:
My first storm in Arkansas!! I'm not going to lie, the storms here are intimidating....you can see it coming from miles and miles away. The black clouds are low and ominious. But everyone laughed when I asked what we would do in our office if there was a tornado....I shotty-ed the bathroom and bringing the big couch to cover me. You can never be to prepared!
Thats my two-cents and ramble of the day.
Night 12.
At Least I Will Enjoy Getting Fat...
Day 11 .
I'v just come to the conclusion that the people of Arkansas are trying to make me fat. The food here is amazing. The burger I had for lunch yesterday literally melts in your mouth and is the size of my head. The bun is two top pieces that are soft but sturdy enough to hold the tomato, HUGE leaf of lettuce, onion and whatever else is included. The fries are pretty normal diner like fries (still really yummy) that are a little more potato.
The name of this amazing burger place is (drumroll please) Station Cafe! (Right in Bentonville Arkansas near the original 5&dime Walton store). The burger is The Station Cafe Steak Burger. Their Website is: http://www.stationcafeinc.com/aboutStationCafeInc.html
Now the downside of this is probably the calorie counter. I do not want to know how many calories are in that burger, but it was sure as hell worth it! This picture does not do this burger justice because it is monsterous. And I believe it is fried in about 50 years worth of grease and fat....YUM. Thats a real burger. What I don't understand are the people who try and make their burger "healthier"....if you are eating a burger that is 4,000 calories (exaggeration) then saving 20 calories DOES NOT MATTER. lol Sorry that was a rant that just needed to be said.. err.. written?
Today's First:
My first real burger!! I will never be able to eat a burger anywhere else. It was just so fresh I almost don't consider it a burger...more like heaven in my mouth :)
Where is your favorite burger joint?! =)
“Anybody who doesn't think that the best hamburger place in the world is in his home town is a sissy.”

Learning, Turtles and Boards Oh my! Weekend in the Ozarks
Day 7, 8, 9, 10. (6/10-13/11)
Picture numero uno-Wilderness walk picture :)
Learning. This weekend we went to a blogger conference in the wilderness of the Ozarks. #AWBU When I say I went to the wilderness of Arkansas, I really mean it. We turned onto some dirt road to get to the Ozarks Wilderness Science Center....and it kept getting smaller and smaller and smallerrrrrrr until I began to wonder if we were on a road at all! On a sidenote, I have previously reviewed the rental car I am using this summer- 2011 Chevy HHR, and it is NOT a backroad car. I was seriously concerned about being stuck, and not being able to get back out. So if you plan on doing some off-roading I would 1000% recommend you get another car.
Picture DEUX -Turtles The nature we were surrounded with were breathtaking. Absolutely stunning. I'm not paid to say this, this is my own opinion....GO TO THE ARKANSAS OZARKS!!! (PICTURE 3- Me in the wilderness....had to have proof of this for you all) And if you have extra money on your hands donate money to support this beautiful part of the world AND to help kids to learn about nature &science. Please help this non-profit: http://onsc.us/
Picture 4- Anyway, I was able to learn so much!! "The Park Wife" blogger taught me about her chickens (Did you know the ones with Red ears lay brownish eggs!?) Fascinating! (PICTURE 4, breakfast was amazing, garden fruits and veggies, local farm fresh eggs, wheat roll with fresh bacon...yumyum Not like camp food at all)
Boards Elmer's had an event which provided us with a Tri-Fold board, bright papers, picture corners, glue(sticks- All Purpose, roller thingy, and like a white out-type thing), painters markers, Xacto scisssors (fun cut ones &straight cut), gel pens....IT WAS AWESOME!!! I was in crafters heaven! I would highly recommend the painters markers and all of the glues. I made a super cute memory board to remember the weekend! What fun things would you do with a foam board?
The picture of Collective Bias, from Left to Right: Beth, Jerra, Me, Mailena, Courtney, Kim, Monica (and Lauren left before this picture!)
Swag Bag Picture: I can't even list the cool swag we received! Just a start: Water bottle, $ murphy gas card, light up fan, mini Heinz Ketchup, Better Homes & Gardens Kitchen Scissors and bottle opener and can opener, goat soap etc etc etc
Today's First:
My first day in the Ozarks of Arkansas! I spazzed out whenever there was a bug. Of course making me look like a fool. I mean seriously the spiders were the size of my hand, and I have big hands!!! I met so many great people this weekendand learned so much. You always remember your first...reply yours! :)
Livin on a Prayer
